As I reflect on the journey of Stack Builders, it’s hard to believe that 15 years have passed since we first opened our doors on October 1, 2009. What started as a dream shared by two people has grown into a thriving company with three teams across the United States, Ecuador, and Spain. We’ve always set out to make a significant impact across the tech industry, and today, we are proud to be a company that not only meets that vision but exceeds it.
From a Two-Person Team to Global Offices
Fifteen years ago, our vision was clear: to provide an exceptional level of technical and service excellence, push the boundaries of the software industry, and do so by building an amazing company culture of curiosity, innovation, and collaboration. With those guiding principles, we’ve grown steadily and sustainably, expanding our team across three countries and delivering high-quality software solutions to clients worldwide. From our original office in NYC to our largest office in Quito, Ecuador, and more recent expansion in Spain, our growth has been a testament to our commitment to excellence and collaboration.
A Hub for Functional Programming in Ecuador
One of the milestones we’re particularly proud of is our long-standing Quito Lambda group. Quito Lambda has not only been a central part of our company’s culture but also one of the longest-running technical meetup groups of its kind in the region. Functional programming has always been at the core of what we do, and today we are known for building some of the world’s largest Haskell projects. This has allowed us to tackle complex challenges and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions for our clients.
Growing Talent and Building Communities
At Stack Builders, we believe in investing in our people. Over the past decade, we have trained and nurtured talented team members, many of whom have become leaders in the industry. Being part of the tech expansion in Ecuador has been particularly meaningful, as we’ve seen firsthand how our work has contributed to the growth of the local tech community, and we look forward to doing the same in Spain. We’ve expanded our projects almost every year since we’ve been in business, and we’re always learning alongside others—whether through client engagements, partnerships, or community involvement.
Our Clients Stay for the Long Haul
Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. One of the metrics we’re most proud of is that 80% of our new business comes from referrals. This speaks volumes about the level of trust and service excellence we’ve established with our clients. Our clients have been with us for six years on average, and our longest-standing client has been with us for an incredible 13 years. While our contracts give clients the flexibility to stop work at any time, we are proud that they choose to stay with us because of the consistent value we provide.

Ever since we reached the size required to certify as a Great Place to Work, we’ve achieved that distinction every single year in our largest office in Ecuador. Not only that, but we’ve also been recognized as one of the top companies in the country for women, in tech, and overall. This is a direct result of the culture we’ve built—a culture of deep respect, continual improvement, and collaboration. Our team members stay because they believe in the mission and they appreciate being part of an environment where everyone is encouraged to grow and excel.
